The most important material for the construction of a guitar is certainly the wood. Every single piece is living and has its own character, even if it stems from the same tree.
As a professional guitar maker I sense and utilize the qualities of the material. The time of felling and the processing of the wood have essential effects on the sound of the guitar. The optimal storage of the wood is a precondition for my work – I store the wood that I use under my own control and as long as possible. Something very special for instance is spruce that is felled and split according to phases of the moon.
If I am able to accompany the whole process of a tree up to the point of a finished guitar, a strong bond with the material develops. Therefore I attach great importance to work also with timber from local regions.
